Safe full: What to sell off?
Cleaning out safe
After some years of acquiring rifles, I suddenly realized I use shotguns more than rifles and have two decent rifles for hunting, so why have more when I need another shotgun, a semi-auto with a three-inch chamber.
The problem is I tend to view all my guns as my children, some more favoured than others, but I don't want to disown any of them.
But still, there are a few that could go and I'd never miss them. Much.
Which one would you get rid of? I have my good 270 and a good 300 Winchester magnum, which are all I really need for the game I shoot.
Unused and cluttering up the locker are:
1. Remington Model 700 243
2. US M17 30-06 sporter
3. Swede Model 38 6.5x55
4. Swede Model 96 6.5x55
5. Mosin Nagant M91/30 7.62 Russian
6. Spanish Mauser cavalry carbine (sporterized) 7 x57 Mauser
7. 1957 Remington 870 Wingmaster
I would find it hard to part with any of them, but I can't justify getting another gun without selling at least two.
Most of them shoot well.
What would you do?
Each one has its own charm to me. The 243 for example, is the only firearm I ever bought new, and it kept my family eating meat at a very lean time in our lives. I enjoy shooting the 1896 Swede and Mosin on occasion, but will probably never hunt with them again, and the 30-06 is a good spare to have around, though I have a 30-30 I won't part with either for that reason.
