I have owned a Browning A bolt in 300winmag and a Browning BAR [semi auto] in 300win mag. There are only three negatives that I could say about both of them. #1: the wood stocks are poorly finished, if you take them apart there is exposed wood hidden under the metal. #2: the hinged plate that holds the clip in place is easy to break and expensive to replace. #3: the BAR action will freeze if your hunting sub-zero temps in freezing rain.
I now use a Tikka T3 30-06, yes the stock isn't the most appealing..but your getting Sako barrel /action quality [same manufacturer] for less $$$$.
All three of these firearms were/are good shooters, so if your looking at a synthetic stock I would say your personal preference [and price] should help you make your decision. I wouldn't buy a Browning with the hinged floor plate again, but I don't think the x-bolt has that feature?
Hope this helps you with your choice to buy the Browning!!
