'Boo might be able to help you with the local codes.
As for a pre-fab cabin. Check the local lumber yards in the area that you want the cabin. Some may have deals with RTM (Ready-to-Move) builders that can build you the cabin and move it on site. Nelson Lumber here actually does tons of RTM's & prefab buildings, but might be a little far. Build on site is possible too, and I can help you there with design. As for foundations, it depends on the location etc. Many places out here are on lease land, in this case we can't do a permament structure, so we use piers or screw piles. A simple concrete wall on a footing to below frost line or firm bearing is a simple cost effective option. Another is PWF (presure treated wood) foundations, however you would need an engineer to review & seal the PWF design. Hope that helps. Feel free to ask any questions, and if I can answer them I will.

Yes, please ask away.
All buildings in that area must conform to the BC Building Code and other provincial regulations that range from the septic system and water well to the Homeowner Protection Office. A building permit is required from the Cariboo Regional District. The ground snow load for that area 56 psf and 6 psf rain load. Frost depth is nominal 3'-6" in drained soil and 4' in clay. Holding tanks for sewage are not allowed anywhere in the CRD portions of the South Cariboo and most lots in the Womack Subdivision require engineered septic systems. Water is notoriously hard to find with many 600'+ dry holes on various lots. If it was me I would lean towards a "dry" cabin without pressurized water. The building code only requires a supply of potable water and that can be brought in by the container rather than by pipes. If I was thinking of a small cabin I would personally build a site-built building on a 4' crawlspace foundation. Both a building supply and a concrete batch plant are located within 15 minutes of your lot at Deka. A simple rectangular wood-framed single storey building with a common gable truss roof will be cheaper than most code-compliant cabin "packages" or pre-builds if you and your family is half-way handy with a hammer and saw. Send me a PM with your mailing address and I will send you some more information.
