Danner Pronghorns: advice needed
I think I'm going to purchase a pair of Danner pronghorns. They look to be a high quality boot. Anyone have a pair of these? How do you like them? I was also trying to figure what weight thinsulate to get 400 or 1000? I'm from South Saskatchewan. I hunt deer (bow and rifle), elk, and coyotes. Thanks for your advice in advance.

I have used Danner boots in the past and found them of a decent to good quality. However, when I started to wear Irish Setter hunting boots I found that they are just that much better than Danner boots. But that is just my opinion and preference. It might change again in a season or two.

I wear Danner Santiams and have found them to be both durable and comfortable. Do not buy the Pronghorns - the combo cordura-leather does not stand up to heavy use, and they will leak at the seams as the cordura fibres separate where they are stitched.
Go for an all-leather model like the Santiams and you will have warm, dry feet. My last pair of Santiams lasted 8 years and are still in excellent shape...I started to wear a new pair this year that I picked up on sale a couple of years ago. I think they are now know as "The Canadian" rather than Santiam.
