Firearms pricing

We stopped in the other day to check out a couple of our local firearms dealers and were quite surprised to see the sharp increases in gun prices being displayed. One particular gun that I have been eyeing up was selling in the higher $850 range last year...this season the sticker was hitting a little over $1100 in one shop and just under $1000 in another.

Is this something that is happening all over or is it just more regional profit taking going on? I am curious to know if these are the typical increases since the Canadian dollar dropped back down and what others are seeing??

Our dollar has dropped ~25% against the American greenback over the last year and a half. $850.00 + 25% = $1062.50. Most dealers current stock was bought with the weaker dollar.

With that said there are more than a few dealers who have bumped up their old stock to the current prices in a move to maximize profits.
