Gordo and the anti-HST movement

I see Gordo wasn't to pleased on his return from another recent taxpayer paid junket..even his home riding has amassed the petition signatures to reject it. That has been a Liberal stronghold, and backer of him for many years.

I don't buy his argument that, "the HST will save jobs in BC, and be good for the future generations" as he spouted on the news the other day. He was clearly quite PO'ed, and I think he just hates the thought that one of his rulings is not just simply accepted, by the usually apathetic voters.

At least Gord has managed to keep his minions towing the party line. The weak kneed Ron Cantelon in my riding has recently stated, " even though the voters in my region clearly don't want this HST program coming into effect, it will be best for the province, and I continue to support it".

The Parksville Qualicum region he serves (?) has already exceeded 20% of the voters on the petition, and was one of the first to do so in the Province. They are still getting more signatures daily..You think Cantelon would have the balls to do the right thing, and concede this HST is a bad idea..

A government for the people, by the people..oops.. that was a different country..

The interesting thing will be to see what actions they take now?? Maybe they will just change the name to HHST [honest harmonized sales tax] ??? Which will in effect nullify the petition??

OR maybe they will stall, and hold a referendum and then just do what they want irregardless of how the referendum vote goes [see treaty referendum]

One thing we can be sure of....they are going to take more of our paycheck, come hell or highwater!!!!!

Gordo will just ignore the whole thing, impose the tax against the will of the people, and continue on being king.

In all honesty he has more important matters to deal with such as the sale of BC Hydro to the private sector and privatization of the entire forest industry.

Sad to think of what tatters the government will leave us in, when they are finally given the boot.
The privatization of BC Hydro, would be a real loss, as was BC Gas. Here on the Island, it seems the majority of forest land is already privately owned/controlled. Makes hunting access a real SOB. Limited hours on weekends for some areas, others the gates are locked all the time.

Darn shame he didn't resign after his DUI charge..too big an ego I guess. As well his "friends" in big business may not have been to happy, as their road to riches would have been not as smooth.

Poll: Liberals' popularity sinking
The government is sitting at 26 per cent support in B.C.
Mike Lloyd Jun 10, 2010 06:11:23 AM

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - The Liberals keep on sinking. A new poll is showing how much the government's popularity is falling ahead of the new HST in July.

The latest Angus Reid research puts the Liberals at 26 per cent support in B.C. - that's down 20 points since May's election. The NDP sits at 46 per cent.

The poll also found more than 60 per cent of British Columbians living in Liberal-held ridings would be willing to sign a petition to unseat their MLA.

Research Director Hamish Marshall tells the Vancouver Sun that's a staggeringly high number and speaks to a complete disconnect between the government and a large chunk of the population.

The Harmonized Sales Tax kicks in July 1st. Organizers of the anti-HST campaign have promised a recall effort targeting Premier Gordon Campbell and other Liberal MLA's.
