Sad story/advice wanted
I hope Boo dosen't mind me posting this here, but it doesn't meet the classified forum guide lines. Yet
A really great fellow hunter I know, has been going through treatments for months now, for prostate cancer. He found out recently that it had spread, in spite of the treatments, and has been basically told to get his affairs in order, as time is running out quickly.
He has a collection of firearms, all registered, and asked my help in trying to determine their current value, and to perhaps help him sell them. I have done some research, but wanted to see if anybody else could offer some advice on them, value wise. The list is as follows.
Gevarm .22 Model E1 semi-auto, c/w clip. Made in France Good condition all around other than minor scratches on stock. Comes with Banner .22 scope, 4X20, Japan made.
.270 Husqvarna Made in Sweden. Mauser action, flip type safety, leather army sling, open sites, but tapped for scope. Minor scratches and wear marks, bluing is really good, needs new recoil pad installed (has new one for it). I'm not sure of the model, but it would be from the early 60's I believe.
Remington 12ga semi-auto, Sportsman 58, USA made, unsure of what grade, no rib barrel, single bead, excellent condition, minor scratches.
Harrington and Richardson model 48 Topper 12 ga, single shot break action. Made in Quebec. Very good condition, minor scratches. Bluing excellent.
Winchester model 69A bolt action .22 (S, L, & LR),
2 clips (5 & 10 round) USA made, Canvas sling, Marbles open sites, Firearms Centre assigned SN# so hard to pin down age. Good condition.
There is several boxes 12Ga (lead) shot shells, 3 boxes of .270, and about 8 boxes of .22 ammo which could be sold seperately, or perhaps as part of the deal for the firearms. (All are old Dominion, Imperial CIL, which may have some collectors value these days).
It was very sad to see him look over his firearms, for the last time, as he has been now moved into a hospice. He gave each of his guns a last kiss goodbye. I know how he feels, as I am sure many of you do, about some of your old faithfulls.
Once I can establish a fair market price for them, I will list them in the Classified forum. His Son, who has POA, will likely be involved in the final sale, but interested parties, can PM me with their phone number, and we can contact them first, when they go up for sale.
Thanks for your help.
