trailer axles

I need to put new axles under my tandem quad trailer...the question I have for anyone is:

Are those torsion spring axles any good? Any problems with them?? How are they for taking wear and tear??

From the onset they look like they might be a good idea, with more clearance and less moving parts, just looking for some input from anyone that has had some experience with them.

I've had great success with them. I have them on my jetboat trailer, and as you can imagine, it takes alot of abuse on rough gravel roads.

when you say quad trailer do you mean for the quad to tow or to put the quads on?

i had them on a bobcat trailer years back and they stood up well. they are also common on horse trailers. the frame should be designed or retro fitted for the streeses it puts on it which is a bit different the leaf spring stress

Either way, they work good. A friend has put a small set of "Flex Rides" on a trailer that he pulls behind his quad. I think they are rated at 600 lbs. The ones I have on my Boat trailer are (I think) rated for 2,500 lbs.
There are several sizes available.

I meant for a trailer to pull behind my truck..with the quad etc on it, also want it for double duty to move my mid size tractor around should the need ever arise.

From the answers so far it sounds like they can pass the stress test [rough gravel roads]. Thanks for responding.

If you don't mind what type of boat trailer? I am looking at switching the axles on my EZ-Loader trailer (cause the ones on it suck bad) How hard to switch from a leaf spring configuration?

My Boat Trailer was Custom Built, and has the "Stub Axle" type welded to the frame (No axle across under the trailer at all). Full width Flex Axles are also available, and should just clamp to your frame with U-bolts (Might have to get a mounting kit). The "full width" type still gives tons of clearance, unlike conventional axles.

But how difficult is it to 'square up' a tandem setup when switching to torsion type axels?
