Vintage Ammunition
Hi all, just picked up some of these and thought I'd share.
These are Kynock .375 H&H Mag bullets, sealed in lead parcels of 5 x packs of 5 bulets as shown, and each lead pack has the bullet weight and type hand-written on the outside. We think it's circa 1930's vintage, but have no idea if it's collectable or even shootable. This is how the sides and base are sealed: But with an open pack of five rounds.....do you think it'll still shoot? Cheers Roo |

Good point, thanks. As it happens I was doing a bit more research on these yesterday and it does seem that there is still a fair bit of lead-wrapped ammo about, if you can find it, and it still shoots fine if the packets remain sealed - as mine are.
Since I've got an open pack of five, you just know that at some point I'll give them a blast - but I'll video it when I do and let you see for yourself! Cheers Roo |

OK, so I've now fired a few of these only bullets, seems they were made on 19th Nov 1923 - anyway, I video'd me shooting them and will edit the clip and post it up to Youtube.com - I'll forward you a link when I do, but uffice to say I'm alive to tell the tale and still smiling!

Boy...I would have a hard time shooting those off. They have way too much appeal as a collectable to me. So much history there.
I would just put them away and enjoy the fact that I found them. Just imagine if they could talk....LOL. Nice find. Love that kind of stuff. I have one single round of Kynoch in 7mm Ross. Kynoch used to load for allied snipers during WW II. Each sniper would have his own pet load that Kynoch would load, then they left them unmarked so the Germans would not know which sniper was behind their lines, when they found the spent casings.....a bit of trivia Paul Last edited by 35 Whelen; 12-03-2008 at 10:34 AM. |

Not trying to steal this thread but it does fall in line with the topic. I'm looking for some vintage ammo, 348 Winchester Silver Tip, 200gr or 220gr. Better yet, I'd like to find some 348 Winchester Silver Tip bullets only, and 200gr or 220gr. Recently acquired my favorite lever action, a Deluxe Winchester model 71.
