Best Broadheads?

Hey everyone,
I'm thinking about changing my broadheads this year. I've been using some thunderhead 100s and also tried some mechanical broadheads as well. I'm curious what you guys are using and your recommendations. I'm thinking I might want to try a fixed blade rather than replaceable this time. Lots of them out there so I'm curious what you guys are using and what you've had success with.
Thanks

I've tried the muzzy but I could not get them to fly very good. I now use a mechanical and smaller broadhead. I like the rocky mnt sniper mechanical. It's a cam back style. I also had luck with the rocky mtn ironheads. The snipers cut1 3/8 and the ironhead is 1".

I am starting out with Muzzy 100 Thunderheads too.

No idea on performance as I haven't connected yet.

They shoot straight for me at practice.

I have been using Slick Trick broadheads and they shoot very well. they are available directly from the website. www.slicktrick.net or from a canadian website www.archersnook.com. They are $20 US plus $1 for shipping. They have had excellent reviews for results and quality.

I've used the Muzzy 100 fixed blade broadheads for several years with excellent results. Tried a few others that I always had some problems with, including some brand of expandable that I don't remember but which cost me a deer.

Yesterday I set up my hunting arrows. After sighting in at various distances with field points, I did one arrow at a time with broadheads. Since the 3 blades are all removeable, I took them off and slipped in a set of dull ones that I test with. After shooting, I replaced them with the sharp ones again.

In every case, the broadheads hit exactly where the field tips had hit, at a variety of distances. With all the hype about Montecs and a few other brands, I seriously considered switching. But I think it's good policy not to fix what ain't broken. For me, the Muzzys work great.

BTW, I'm using Beman ICS 400 arrows with 4" fletchings. The fletchings are particularly important so that the broadhead doesn't think it can boss the arrow around. Fetching that's too short is often the reason why some guys have different impact points with field tips and broadheads. Of course, bow tuning is important as well.

I had really good success with muzzy 4 blades, as well as Thunderhead 85/100s but I am trying Spit fire mechanicals this year, once I connect with something I'll let you know how they do.

I used the splitfires on quite a few animals when I shot training wheels, and they were great! ALWAYS WORKED, and well at that. Deer, bear, moose all fell to them.

3/4

I have shot two bears so far....one with the Rocky Mtn. Sniper (bear piled up after 25 yds. with a double lung hit) and one with a thunderhead fixed (bear piled up after 50 yds. with arrow right through the heart). I am using the fixed thunderheads now as my first arrows with a couple of the expandables for back up but you as well a I both know that it is not the broadhead but where you put it that really counts. If I were you I would stick with the thunderheads.
