don't overlook the Gold tip's kirby. For my money they are the best quality toughest arrow going. you can pick up a dozen at any local shop for easily under a 100. I like Fletch tight for fletches and powerbond for inserts.

Ok.. I have been shooting carbons now for just about 8 years, and I have been using gold tips since they came out.. very tough, durable arrow. Shot around and see what you can find.
As for fletching cement, I use duraloc by duravane (they changed the name of the glue and I am not at home to check) If I have to change a fletching, I have to cut them off with this stuff. Pretty much everyone in my club uses it too with great success. Now for gluing inserts in carbons. I have tried just about everything, from carbon glue to epoxy. The best I have found is low temp hot melt glue that you find in hobby stores for crafts. Very rarely do I loose an insert now. Even the new eastons come with that type of glue. I will never go back now! The bonus to, is if you break an arrow you can get your insert back if neede!

I made the switch to carbons a while back now and would never think of going back to aluminum. I found carbons incredibly tough - no more problems with denting arrows.
I have been shooting GoldTips and have been very pleased. Best price I could find for cut and fletched was from Hub Sports in Abbotsford. I just got the Hunter's and almost did a double take on the low price they quoted me. Good luck, TSJ |

Can't give you any feedback on kills as I'm a new bow hunter & haven't connected yet, but target-wise I'm happy. Field wise I'm happy so far because my equipment held out well & was easy to manage in my 1st week-long 2004 bow Elk Hunt...........there was taurential rain & long hikes.

Do you have a number for the boys in Abbosford? I have always gone to Specialty shooting sports in Langley, really liked dealing with them, I hadn't talked to them in three years, and when I called and orders some broadheads this year they remebered my name(from my voice), was pretty impressed.

You can also try North Country Archery here in Quesnel Kirby. Great prices, real good people and he does good work. 250-992-5586 ask for Murray or Ila (pronounced eye-la). Tell em Chris Wright sent you and they will treat you right!

Ditto on the Gold Tips....I have used the same arrow with the same broadhead to kill all three animals I have taken with the bow....arrows are very durable and so are the thunderhead broadheads...just sharpen them up and they're ready to go another round.
I get all my arrows, etc. from Big Game Archery in Abbotsford. BCB

Arrows
I have shot beman ICS hunters for 4 years now. They have worked well. I have recently changed to Carbon Express Heritage. The Bemans were to light for my traditional gear. The CEH's are an awsome arrow. Price wise they are middle of the road. Quality wise they are near the top end. I paid less than $90 a dozen before taxes and shipping. I think if you look around they are probably $115 a dozen but I buy bulk and get better pricing.
Good luck! |
