Late Archery Season Coming Soon

This is the last weekend of the firearms season, at least in many parts of region 8. As of Nov 25, whitetail does as well as bucks will be open for bowhunters for about 2 weeks. Even though success rates are always low, it's one of the times I enjoy hunting most There is usually snow by then, the rut is still on to some degree, and there is not too much competition.

I'll be looking for a big doe to top up the freezer. Got busted last year more times than you can shake a stick at and ended up with just the one buck. Seems like bucks are easier to fool than the does.

How many here have plans to use the latter part of the season to chase deer with their bow?

I plan to fling a few sticks this fall. Maybe region 8 if time permits. Used to go to Rock Creek many years ago but now its a little to busy for me. Maybe I'll try up toward G.Forks again... . Those whities are so fun especially the does. And in the snow, it is even more of a blast!

I'll be out there for sure!!!! Absolutely the best time of the season!! I have Dec. 6-10 booked off so I will be out chasing that one special buck that has been giving me fits for the past 3 seasons ( if he's survived ). I love the late archery season, you have zero competition in the bush, you're free to go wherever you want and you will generally have the place to yourself!!

Good luck to all you stick chuckers out there!!

Chris

It's here - the snow, that is. About 6" arrived last night, although it seems to be melting even now, 9:30 at night. Hopefully some will stick around for the weekend. Today was the last day of firearms and I will be heading out before daylight on Friday. We'll see how stirred up the deer still are. I think I have a nice quiet ambush site picked out. With luck, I may even get some entertainment from some late rut activity.

Best of luck everyone; have fun out there.
