A little Help??

First the Bow: I am shooting a Hoyt Vtec 57#, 29".

When I am shooting, most of my shots are going high, whether at 10,20 or 30 y. I have noticed that my bow jumps up or tilts back when I shoot. I have tried changing my grip but when I do that my bow hand shakes due to me having a disease called Esential Tremor (Katherine Hepburn had this). The lighter I hold the bow, the less the shakes. I know that the shakes are part of the problem but I have had them for about ten years and have learned to adapt to them. I am doing the same thing for my bow as well. By the way my shots are all grouping very well, just not where I want them.

Some of my thoughts are.... Do I need a heavier stabilizer? Tighten my wrist strap to hold the bow tighter to my hand? Try a different style of grip on the bow, thicker? fatter? Does a different rest or other accessory help with this probem?

I am looking for any suggestions that you think might help.

Thanks

When you say that most shots are going high why not raise the sight which will lower the point of impact. Make sure the peep is the right height. Draw your bow back with your eyes closed and adjust the peep to where the top pin is centred within the peep when you open your eyes.
The bow jumping up and kicking back has me puzzled, I have a Powertec with no stabalizer and the bow has very little hand shock or kick back. Yours should have next to none also. I would contact the person you bought the bow from and pick his/her brain.
A loose grip is conducive to accuracy.

Heya Sitka. Nice to see you decided to join the stick and string gang.
As for your prob.
If you are getting consistent good groups then your shakes aren't affecting how you shoot too much.
the kickback can be tamed with a heavier a/or longer balancer. I have a strap on my bow and shoot open handed my old Browning without a wrist strap I shot with my pointer finger touching my thumb tip not griping the bow at all
Did you have someone at the bow shop/range watch you shoot sometimes they can correct a prob like this by bow tuning or moving your knock point.
Keep me posted on how its going.
As a side note I always drift right on my shots if I hold too long, I just compensate by aiming further left on long holdover's.
I allso got an awsome amature video, bow kill shot on a moose if you want to see it P/M me with an e/mail addy to send it to you if youd like.

When your holding your bow it sounds like you have the ball of your hand putting pressure on the lower part of the grip acting as a pivit point, hence the bow tipping up and back causing the arrow rest to rise as the arrow is released making the arrow go high, try holding it with the web of your thumb/index finger taking the pressure farther up the grip and raising the pivot point and the bow should tilt foreward at the top when the arrow is released so that the arrow rest dosen't rise and dosen't interfere with the arrows flight. Follow through with your shot and do not drop your bow arm until the arrow hits the target.
