Smile My First Archery Deer

Hey all,

Well a great finish to a great year for me last week. A buddy and I headed up to the Princeton area for the mulie archery opener. Saw a hawg 4x5 first thing in the morning but after an hour of looking for him in his area we weren't able to turn up anything more than his ass running away from us at mach10. Managed to sneek up on this nice little 2-point and arrowed him with my PSE avenger at 25 yards with 100gr thunderhead and he only went another 40 yards or so before he bedded down to die. Hit him a little far back for my liking but the broadhead did its job. Special thanks to Wayne of Saggitarius Archers for taking me out and helping me drag him up the steep hill. I love this archery hunting....I am hooked!

Ian

YaahooooooooOOOOOOoooo !!!!!

Awesome buck for bow hunting !! I'd be proud of shooting him /w the bow anytime.

Good running into you up at Hub Sports on Sat & chatting.

You've posted so many success stories & photos this year that I recognized you in an instant.

Wow I'd have enjoyed sticking a buck like that /w an arrow for my 1st time. Always next year eh !

PS> I managed to find a Slik tripod today that just fits into my day pack & yet it extends out upto eye level.

Later.

Ian, way to go! Yes, I can well imagine you're hooked now. Nothing like a stalk to 25 yards like that, is there? That rig should serve you well; it looks like it has the same stabilizer I use - works good. Do you do the 3D events in the spring? Once again, well done.

great job Ian. All I found this weekend was a whole lot of rubs.
We went after some super fresh tracks but could not find the buck.
Oh well. I still have a freezer full.

Thanks guys for the words.

Hey Jack.....I didn't do much 3D last year as we had a new baby born at Christmas and so things were quite busy in the spring. I hope to get out more this year...my best score to date was at a Mission shoot two years ago 386 and that was with fingers....I have since switched to a release as I feel it is better for hunting so we'll see how I do this 3D season.

Reminder to all those itching to do 3D that Sagittarius Archers have their 11th annual indoor 3D shoot on January 8th and 9th at the Abbotsford Agrifair Arena....this is a great event to meet fellow archers from around BC and beyond with lots of great draw prizes....last year we gave away 10 bows over the two days.

Here's another!

Here is a buck I killed in SK in Nov. with the bow. He is 24" inside spread! Green scores 170 gross and 164 net P&Y. I also shot a 7x5 whitetail and a BC goat here in BC with the bow! I'll try to pic out a few photos from my video clips!

Instinctive,

That is a beauty white-tail dude! Saw one like that this fall but couldn't get a crack at him. Congrats on a great trophy.
