New Here.

Hi to everyone. I am new to the forum. I used to bow hunt back in Sask. almost 20 years ago, and haven't been since then. Did a bit of rifle hunting when I came to BC 10 years ago.

I want to get back into bow hunting this season. I have my eye on what I think is a fairly straightforward entry level set up, a PSE Deerhunter, 65lb, and a stock 3 pin sight. The draw is currently set at 29", I think I am in the 30 1/4" range.

I took a few shots with the bow as it is set up, not too bad for not having picked one up in almost 20 years. It felt right.

My question is this, what do you all recommend for type of release to use, rest, and sight system for a beginner that is trying to bag something in this season. Also any recommendations on type and make of arrows and broadheads for deer would be appreciated.
I am confident that I can improve my accuracy with practice over the next few weeks. Luckily, one of my customers has a site with lots of room to set up a small target range out of the way.

My buddy has a bunch of rangeland up near Kamloops with lots of game on it, he saw two White Tail bucks this morning, and lots of Mule Deer bucks in the last few days. I plan on going up this weekend for a scouting trip. Possibly set up some tree stands if I have time.

Any info you can give this novice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Willpower

Wink

Welcome, Visit a local proshop and have them set something up for you. Sounds like you have some great plans come September! Best of luck in the upcoming season, and report back. I have to admit I havent been contributing much, but intend to this fall, we lost alot of great posts last fall and I kind of gave up after that, but I am excited to see a new archer posting! Thanks for the nudge.
