Provincials

So the Provincials in Vanderhoof are only two weeks away....anyone going?? Sounds like they may be in for a pretty small turnout, last year at this time there was 95 pre-registered...this year there is only 35.....hopefully there will be a pile of last minute entries. So how about it...anyone going?

Dadgum it Chris, as usual I wish I could attend. Once again, when I retire and can travel leisurely to events further away from home, I'll be foaming at the mouth to get to them.

I've also destroyed all my 3D yardage pins for the meantime and reset them for the Canadian 900 distances, so I can commence practice for the Seniors Games in August. Will be going to Penticton this weekend to shoot one of them.

All the best to you up there.

Well I'll give you folks a bit of a rundown that I can remember for the results from the provincials this weekend. The shoot itself was very god, but poorly attended unfortunately. The weather was pretty miserable all week-end but thats ok....still beat working!! Some of the top scores by category that I can recall

Masters Open - Al Campsall - 756
ladies open - Sandy Dueck - 623
MBR - J.P. Fillion - 751
FBR - Samantha Wright - 621
FBH-M - Michael Wright - 698
YBR - Kyle Busekivich - 649

Overall My clan did pretty well with my wife taking the gold in the FBR, my son taking the gold in the FBH-M, our young friend taking silver in the YBR, My daughter took bronze in the FBH-F, and I managed to hang around for bronze in the MBR. Needless to say I'm pretty proud of the family right now!

Chris, you are all shooting awesome! A hearty congratulations all around. Glad you had a good time in spite of the weather. Doesn't look like too many surprises in that list you provided - those are all predictably top shooters. Wish I could have come. ~sigh~

What's on the horizon now? You going to the nationals?

Unfortunately its just to expensive to get to the nationals this year but we will definately be hitting it next year in Lethbridge and hopefully the Spitz indoor nationals as well. On the horizon right now is getting to work with our traditional gear before the Timothy Lake shoot in two weeks and rechecking my hunting set up for our hunter warm-up shoot in August. Indoor FITA will also be starting soon and we are trying to get the bid for the provincials here so we'll have to put our best foot forward on that one.

How is your 900 coming?? How soon to the senior games....keep us posted!

Yup, next year in Lethbridge will be quite handy. The 900 practice is coming along - usually about 850-860, but figure to step that up by the time the games happen Aug 24. Just got a new 3D target (coyote) yesterday and plan to have an informal 3D shoot here just after mid month. Tomorrow it's off to the bush for me for a week and a half or so to do some geophysics for a mining company. Of course I'll be taking along my bow and a target butt.
