Shelf or Flipper?

Alright guys (I warned you earlier) here goes with the start of my "series of dumb questions" concerning recurve shooting. Should I be shooting off the shelf with "fuzzy stuff" on it or using one of those cheap looking Flipper thingys? (when I last shot a recurve it was with cheap wooden shafts fletched with feathers & the shelf was bare as a baby's bum) ...KF

The essence and lure of the traditional bow is its simplicity.....rests fail...the shelf does not. if your shelf is allready radiused then throw some fuzz on'er and make sure you ad a "button" to the side of the shelf cut-out and you'll be good to go. If it is a flat shelf just stick a little something like a matchstick under your fuzz.

Dang, now I'm confused OK now, the matchstik under the fuzz is to reduce the contact area on the shelf...am I right? But what the heck is this "button" riggin's you mentioned and why exactly do I need it? I see lots of recurves with just fuzz on the shelf & window cutout and that looks soooo simple (something along the lines of the Bearhair rest)...KF
