Who is seeing what

I was able to get out for a drive / walk sunday afternoon . Bumped into a welding rig that went off the road . I am glad I had the tugum strap with me . After we got him out I was off .At my last spot of intrest I was able to find 26 mules in total 4 buck only one 4 point ( not big enough to shoot opening day of bow season )1 bull moose . Yes it was snowing like hell (had frozen over) it was nice & quite for the stocking . I could have shafted all of the bucks but the 4 point it would not give me a good shot . With the cold coming it should be a great season .(I may have to call in sick for 2 weeks)I am sure there were more bucks around I just did not find them . Next time it will be a all day event . I hope you all have had a good season or are have a good late season .

Glad to hear you made it out!

I had to tell work to stuff the OT this weekend so I was able to make it out for my first day of late-season bowhunting. I must say I'm now hooked!!
Cut a good set of tracks first thing in the morning and followed them for a bit and then decided to pull out the rattle bag. I was set up on a steep hillside just below some bluffs. After two rattling sequences I caught some movement out of the corner of my eye behind me. Here comes a ~160" mulie doing the stiff-legged walk looking all rutted up. He was only 24 yds away but I was facing the wrong direction with crappy footing. I saw him walk behind a small fir tree so I lowered my head and VERY slowly turned around. I expected him to still be behind the tree but to my dismay he had walked in and slowly walked back where he came from . Maybe I should have been a little more agressive and spun around quicker but I didn't want him hanging up behind that tree. I'm sure someone more experienced would have put him down.
Later in the day I had a 2 pt come walking in on me to within 20 yds. I told myself not to be fussy for my first bowkill and I won't let myself upgrade my crappy bow until I could prove MY worth as a bowhunter. I drew on him when he was walking behind a clump of thick bush but he heard me draw and stopped(my arrow had become caked in ice/snow through the day). He had my pinned at full draw so I had to wait him out. The little bugger got nervous and backed out of there. I followed him with the bow but I ended up pushing up against a small bush with the bottom of my bow. End result was I sailed an arow over his back and stuck it in a tree. Never should have taken the shot with something touching my bow. Learning curve is steep for a newbie bowhunter.

Hooked on the sport and am planning on booking a week off this time next year !!

Calvin-can you get out this Sat??

Oh man the stories you guys are throwing around are killing me. I have not hunted in nearly a month (since rememberance long weekend) I need to get out and fling an arrow. Conditions are beauty right now I bet. I am going to try and get out on the weekend for one day. I don't need the meat but a few more loins would be nice and some jerky for the family is always graciously accepted. Besides bowhunting at this time of year is a riot! Maybe we'll see you boys out there.....I will listen for Brent's bow creaking...

That creaking sound will most likely be my shoulder or elbow .

So I guess with a full freezer and a bow kill already under your belt you're gonna be fussy like someone else we know??

Do not feel bad newbie, I was a newbie last year too, and flung two arrows over two different deer at under 30 yards. I hope to get out and try again.

This reminds me of a song. Please feel free to sing along to our favourite Jimmy Buffet tune:

SOME PEOPLE CLAIM THAT THERE'S A WOOOOMANNNNNNNN TO BLAME...

I beared the elements today! -18 and a foot of snow, i was out of the truck for 5-6 hours. I saw 1 moose, 42 muleys (2-2points could of easily arrowed) 9 whitales, could of stuck at least half of them. 1 spiker and 1 -3 point.
Pissin icicles all day long, no arrowworthy bucks, but had a great time!

My freezer could always use a few more quality cuts.

If your feeling generous maybe you'll give him your used tag book at the end of the season to chew on through the winter, thats my plan! Apparently he loves tag soup!

I went out for a couple of hrs. myself today, sat in one spot for an hour and half, saw nothing. Got back to the truck tried to thaw the frozen knobs on my hands of the cold blower from the truck heater that would not heat up in -20 with windchill! drove downhill, looked to the left sure enough allways happens when you drive, saw 2 whitetail does across a gully just a sauntering. I grab my bow get out of the truck and started walking ever so slow. After about 10 min or so it seemed, I realised I was not wearing my gloves or hat when the cold really hit me! Back to the truck and called it a day. On the road home I spotted a bunch of muley does and a nice 4x5 muley
buck, on privat property of course!

Went out again today with the bow! saw a nice 3 point mulie, 4 point mulie, a 4 point whitey ( that dodged my arrow) And to my delight, i also saw the big wide 4 point mulie that my t-cam took a piture of back in oct. Nice to see he made it through the gun season, hell be a hog next year!

Just stepped out on my veranda to feed the local whitetail doe a couple of apples that were getting soft. She will stick around long enough to watch the apple roll down the lawn, then chomps em down.

Well this time I look to my right and there is about the nicest Whitetail buck I have seen in a VERY long time coming in hot and horny. He completely ignores me grunting at him as he puts the snurge on the doe.

I ran inside an picked up the cam corder and got about 10 seconds of him on tape......was I pumped!!!!!!

Sorry for the image quality...they shrink it down in Photobucket....it was taken with a very good camera, and is now where near this grainy on tape.

OK...the link worked,
