Jerky Marinades/Recipes For Game

Just picked up a slicer & wish to do up some roasts into jerky. I've been told 50/50 soya sauce & water for 24 hours, then smoke. Wondering if anyone has tried that or has something better to share.
Ranger.

TERIYAKI JERKY
1 lb. meat slices
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 tsp. onion powder
1 cup beer
1 glove garlic, minced
3 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. garlic salt
In a glass or plastic bowl combine all ingredients, except meat. Stir until sugar is dissolved. In a resealable plastic bag pour in marinade. Place meat in bag. Seal. Refrigerate and marinade overnight. Then dry or smoke.
