Smile 150 vrs 180 grain

First I have a 30 06 rifle and am beginning to learn hand loading. I will be hunting deer, moose mostly with this gun. The question I have is whether 180 grain will wear out the barrel quicker than using 150? I realise the felt recoil will be greater but are there any disadvantages of using higher grain ammo?

No, the barrel wear will be nearly identical.

I personally find the 150 to be a bit light for the '06. A 165 or 180 will be a little more versatile and are better choices on large animals like moose.

To add to this, a 180 on deer will do less damage in most cases than a 150, and still be suitable for moose. Just pick a good bullet and start freezer filling!
