270 mounts and boresighting

just got a new scope for the wife's 270 couldn't put covers on because it was to low to the barrel then when i took it to the range i couldn't get it to adjust
up and down bullet kept shooting same spot i took it back and they freed the adjuster with a crescent wrench bore sighted it again . it shoots ok at a hundred but im asking if anyone has had a problem puting a scope on a moosberg 270 model 1550 . there telling me a 50 wont fit we have a bushnell
3x9 -40 on it now . do we need to use a special bore sighter for that model gun

No special bore sighter required I don't think a 50mm OL is going to give you that much of an advantage what you have will work just fine. If you need the 50 then you may have to go with higher mounts/rings which I personally find uncomfortable to shoot because you have to crane your neck higher to see through the scope which can lead to other problems. You have to be comfortable and snuggled into a rifle to become a good shot especially with a women who may be shorter in the shoulder to neck area ie: head too straight up when sighting this is not a natural way to shoot you want to be in line with the line of the rifle as much as possible rather than too bolt upright, I hope I explained this OK so you can get the idea of how you should be when sighting.

thanks moosecaller my main concern was the number of times they changed the mounts .spoke to a gunsmith and he thinks they just put on the wrong ones it seems to work ok now and it has a lifetims warranty.
