375 Holland and Holland
I'm looking at putting a quick detachable mount on my 375 H&H. Anyone heard of problems associated with recoil with this type of system? Rig is a Browining Stainless Stalker.

I have owned and used seven different .375H&H rifles and currently have two and I used/use QR mounts on ALL of them, the best option, IMO.
I just got my custom P-64-.375 carry rifle back yesterday and it is as follows. Pre-64 Mod. 70 action, original, tweaked and tuned, holds 4+1. Sts. Classic Mod. 70 bbl, cut to 20". McMillan Mod. 70 Monte Carlo synthetic stock, bedded in Devcon, painted flat brown and with flat, clear "anti-skid" paint on top. Recknagel skeleton rear with flouresecent stripe and banded ramp front with firebead, sights soldered and screwed on. Entire action beaded and hot blued and then ALL metal coated with black satin Gun-Kote, baked on. WEAVER GRANDSLAM STEEL RELEASE BASES, drilled out to 8/40 screws and epoxied to receiver with Burris Zee rings and a Leupy 2.5CMHD scope, which you can shoot with both eyes open. Pach. Decelerator black pad Talley barrel band screwed and soldered, for sling swivels and the rear one epoxied into stock. About 9 lbs., shoots my 300 NP loads into "bugholes" and handles like a fine sxs and it is smooth and just perfect for it's purpose. Barry Jensen, myself and a friend did all the work and built it from mostly discarded parts gleaned from e-bay and parts bins, so, it cost about half of what a rifle like this usually goes for. My other .375 H&H is a near mint original P-64 in a custom Rimrock stock and I use the same, inexpensive QR mounts on it with total saisfaction. I use EAW, Leupold, Burris, Warne, Talley and had custom claw mounts on one 9.3 I recently sold off and I use the CZ QR mounts on my ZG-47-9.3x62 and in dozens of relatively high recoil rifles or my drilling, I have NEVER had a problem with them. Do it, you will be glad you did. |
