45 70

I recently purchased a ruger #1 in 45 70. I bought a box or remington factory shells and noticed a crimp ring at the base of the bullet. Will this affect the case life for reloading?

I don't think you'll find it to be anything to be concerned about, not on a basically straight walled case anyway. I've had something similar on some .38 SPL, .357 Mag and some .45 LC cases and never found it to be a problem. Usually on a straight walled case, the first sign of wear or deterioration is cracks at the case mouth.
