Accubonds

I just picked up a few boxes of .308 180 gr Nosler Accubonds on a recent trip through saskatoon to complement my old Sako '06 and was wondering what you gearheads have experienced with them. IE. how do they perform on game, and are they tempermental?

Call me boring but all I use in the field are Partitions as I've never had a reason mess with success. Kind of feel like I'm cheating...hopefully I won't get caught.

Thumbs up

I find the 180 Accubonds to be just as accurate as the 180 Ballistic Tip which is high praise.

The performance of a Partition with the long-range capabilities of the Ballistic Tip ............... what more could someone wish for?

I have been in on a moose and a elk kill with the accubonds it punched through the elk at 225 yards and the moose dropped on the 3 rd shot 2 in the lungs (recovered both under the hide ) one through the heart 440 yards
180 grain . they are IMO a great bullet and I am looking for some for my 7mm
and my 338 win . I shoot ballistic tip out of both rifle and find them to be a great bullet I still would like to try the accubonds

accubonds - I shot one bear with them three years ago, maybe four. It was 7mm 160 gr., worked EXCELLENT

They are very accurate. Shot spectacular in my 25-84 I had (110 gr), and very accurate in a 7saum I had (160 AB)

give them a try, you probably wont be sorry! Ballistic Tip accuracy, Partition performance, price in between the two! Hell of a bullet.

I personally have seen 5 bull moose drop from the accubonds I load up the 200 gr for my 300wm and love them. Currently loading up some 165 for the 06. I also know Bigbore has dropped a couple of whitetails with the 140's out of his 270. One was at 418 yards, picture perfet bullet expansion.

I'm sure you will find them to suit your needs good luck.

I'm currently using 200gr in 300 WM 68 gr. IMR 4350. Found this to be most accurate so stuck with it..

Well I went ballistic this weekend, loading up a wack of shells and testing them up in POCO. Needless to say, I showed up a little "late" this morning...but generally pleased with my first Accubond trial:

180 gr Accubond
56gr IMR 4350
3.400 OAL (0.030 freebore)
5 shot = 1.25" grouping

I know I'm limiting myself, but the only powders I use for my '06 are IMR 4350 and Norma 204. (so many combinations...so little time!)

Just curious, what powder have you guys found as your "favorite" with 165 and 180 gr bullets in the '06?

There is nothing wrong with a 5 shot 1.25" group, especially for a hunting rifle. I'm happy with 3 shots in 1" I prefer a little tighter but 5 shots @1.25" is really decent

sounds like a good load

H4350 is really good, but I also use Varget or H4895 with lighter loads, with good results.

^^^ I'm with coppertop I have a '06 as well.

I'd like to add to the list of request 150 and 165 in a accubond for 308win as well shooting a 308BAR . I haven't bought a nosler reloading book yet .

I've never loaded accubonds before, I mostly sierra and hornady.

Here's a couple Accubonds recovered from moose and deer. They retain between 60-65% of their weight.

I shoot a 7mm with 140 grain accubond and I think they're great. Hodgson
H4831sc 63.5 gr with a federal magnum primer. The deer hate them and my Browning A-bolt medallion luv them
