What other actions have the same barrel threads as a remington. Are they simillar or all different. Having trouble finding Left hand remington short action so i may have to look for another make in LH

This may not be for you, but .......
A bud of mine finally gave up on his search for his LH action for a special gun, and just bought the closest available in an off-the-shelf piece. After, he said I should have smacked him for wasting so much effort, instead of getting something to shoot with.
Good luck to you, though.

I will ley you give me a boot as it has been a frustrating time. The only thing is that i have a barrel and a stock so it looks like they will hit the "for sale block' as soon as you kick me !!!

There may be some other actions that may have the same thread as a remington but a remington barrel cannot be simply screwed on and headspace properly on a different action and be safe to shoot. It will be something you will have to take to a gunsmith to have installed and likely re configured to fit a different action which would usually require having the barrel set back, rethreaded and re chambered to fit safely on a different action. Even if you find a remington action to use it does not mean your remington take off barrel will fit correctly to another remington action without some modification. Never take a barrel off one gun even the same identical brand, model and caliber and install on another of the same without having the headspace checked to make sure it's safe to shoot.

Remington actions are in a high demand by gunsmiths and home smiths alike not to mention trying to find a LH action only. As a result they will usually command a high dollar if found. You are usualy better off buying a complete rifle and go from there. You can also order a Montana Action in LH from Montana Rifleman. Dlask and Bits & Pieces are both Can. dealers. Check out their website http://www.montanarifleman.com/ . Their actions are cross between Win 70 and Mauser actions and are real strong. Let us know how you make out and your final build.

Good Luck

LH Rifles

I also am a LH shooter. I have 2 MRC actions, one is built on a .416 Rem. Mag. the other is sitting in the box waiting for me to make a decision on what to build with it. I also have on order a Jim Borden Action for a .280 A.I. build. The Borden action is the same foot print as a Remington, and the Stocks/bbls. will go on it, but a 'smith will need to do it. The Borden is a little pricey $1200, but very good and allready all trued up.

Another thing to do is buy a new/used LH and sell the bb. & stock. I bought a used Rem. LSS .270 last year for $600. Sold the stock for $285, the bbl. for $125. $190 for a Stainless doner....pretty good deal I think. Good used LH Rifles are hard to find, but they're out there if you have patience & keep looking.
I bought a brand new Rem CDL in 7mm Rem. Mag. It was then reborn into a 7mmSTW. Same thing but a little more pricey than the above. Rifle was $900, sold the Stock for $250, bbl. $125 = $525 for the doner............expensive and a PIA but things us port siders have to deal with!!!!!!

There is currently a NIB Rem 700 LH in .308 for sale around the boards....I think he wants $725
