Approx how many rounds will one pound of powder make?

I am still venturing into reloading, collecting all the components etc but it doesnt look like I will have time to make up any rounds before my trip to Prince George Sept 22 0ct 1.

I Am wondering how many rounds of 30-06 ammunition approximately would one pound of powder make?

I usually shoot 180 grain bullets but might load up some 165 grain as well.

Just trying to get some idea of how much powder I would need to buy. I dont want to buy 8lbs if 1 will last me and my brother in law a long time.

Thanks for the input.

Rhys

1lb = 7000gr

My favorite powders for the 30-06 has been H4350 or IMR 4350

Two old standby loads for quick calculation are:

165gr Nosler Partition, 57gr IMR 4350 @ 2825-2850fps

180gr Nosler Partition, 56gr IMR 4350 @ 2750-2800fps

Calculates out to 122 and 128 rounds

After spilled powder, count on an even 6 boxes (120 rounds)

Believe me.... 1 lb doesn't go far... then again, neither does 8lbs on my loading bench

I think I may have answered my own question.

Looks like 1Lb = 7000grains

So at 56 grains of powder each round would mean about 125 rounds. Make sense?

A lb is 7000 grains, so divide 7000 by your powder charge.
