Gunstocks

Hope you guys don't mind what might be a silly question to some but where can a person find a replacement gunstock of reasonable price and quality that we won't have to wait a year for. rifle is a Winchester model 70 30-06 that a buddy bought and was cut way down, he is over 6 foot. Thanks for any help.

Russels or Wholesale should have synthetic stocks on hand. A Bell & Carlson would be my choice.

Pud at Bashaw sports has a lot of factory takeoffs of all types hanging in his back room, he might have what you need on hand if a wood take off would suffice. may also have synthetics. 780-372-4440. Dave Henry in Bently is worth a call and fairly handy to you. 403-748-3030.

Depending on if you want wood or synthetic. I think you can get a synthetic stock from ram-line (not as good of quality as Bell + Carlson) but way cheaper. They are listed in the wholesale sports catalogue and most likely only a couple of weeks away.

For my youngest so I bought a used LH Browning A-bolt. It was cut to 12".This worked fine when he was 14 but at 16 and 6'2",not so good. I got a piece of rosewood and added it to the butt with epoxy and stainless steel rods.I also installed a recoil pad. But if you ask on Gunnutz someone should have a Winchester XRT stock.

Here's something http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum...ad.php?t=94458

Stocks

Like someone said above, CNN usually has a couple takeoffs, as does AR forum, and 24 HR. Campfire. Someone else said Pud has some, he does but he wants outrageous stupid prices. He had a Win. "Featherweight" stock in there, I was thinking of replacing a cracked stock with. I just about fell over, when he told me he wanted $390 for it. I guess it all depends on what you want and how much $$ you want to spend.

I just got a boyds for my savage. Like your buddy I'm well over 6 foot and I found the boyds about an inch and a half longer than the stock. By the time I put a good recoil pad on it, it should be just about right.

I've bought, sold and traded a bunch of stocks on CGN and currently have a replacement for my Ruger .338 coming from another CGN member It's the first place I'd check.
