Nosler's

Hey Gang,

I am stumped here, I need to get some bullets, but not sure what to grab.

I'm a partition fan, but I have seen Accubonds in the shops.

Now what would you guys recomend? I mostly go after deer!

Also if I load 56g of IMR in my partition can I use the same load with the Accubonds? Or do I have to start from zip?

The accubond is an excellent bullet, accurate like a Baltip bonded to stay together on impact.
At 56 gr of powder are you shooting 30-06 in 180gr?
I have loads developed for my 06 in 165gr and 180gr in both ballistic tip and accubond bullets.I can change back and forth and both bullets group as accurately, the groups just change point of impact slightly higher and lower.
Nosler uses the same data in their manual for all bullet types in each bullet weight so 56gr in your partition load will probably be accurate in the accubond or ballistic tip.RB

Accubonds!!!

All I use are the Accubonds... 180gr in my 300WM, 140gr in my 270WSM rifles. Superior performance on big game. Mostly all complete pass trhu penetration. I only recovered 1 bullet from my 300WM after it traveled thru the mulie buck quartering away, behind LFS and recovered the bullet in the hide after it passed thru the RFS. It weighed 150gr......83.3% retained. Noslers claims 60%+.

My wife took her first bull moose l@325m last season with her 270WSM with 140gr AB's....complete pass thru double lung.

Use the Accubonds with confiedence.

For deer you can use most any bullet, even Remington Cor-loks. Where you have to make choices are with larger game (moose/elk).

Impact velocity effects how bullet expands,or if it expands ! Generally the plastic tipped ,bonded core bullets have the widest range.Magnum velocities in close can over expand,to the point where bullet can blow up on the shoulder.

Next you want to consider the type of wound channel you want. A long narrow one that spills blood for tracking ( Africian hunting) or a shorter wide one,(a bomb in the boilerroom to stop the moose from heading for the deep water). But the wide one doesn't work as well for the stern to stem type shots.

Then there is the caliber, more to the point the diameter and length of the bullet. For moose with a 6.5x55,I will be loading 140 Partions, the lower velocity will mushroom the head without blowing it off and I'll get 338 type wounds with less recoil. For my 338-06, simple Hornady 225 SPs work great.

Yes I forgot to add I only load 180gr.

56grains of IMR 4350 Right at the top of the max.

Sounds like I might have to give these Accubonds a shot!

If people are using them in there 300win mag then they should be alright for my 308 Norma Mag.

What is the going cost for Accubonds? For a box of 50???

Thanks for the info guys,

SW

If you mostly go after deer, neither the Partition or Accubond is necessary most of the time, although it is nice to use a proven bullet.

Accubonds are less expensive than Partitions, and would do very well on deer, or any other game animal. Todd Bartell just put a 165gr Accubond form a 30-06 through 3 feet of elk, so I think they will work fine on deer...if the shooter does his part.
