I do, I do!
I had to run down to my reloading room to make sure I didn't give you bad info. Got my records now. Remington 140 gr PSP CL. 40.5 gr H414 Win LR Primer Win Brass Group size 1.75-2" 140 Gr Hornady SP 41.0 gr H414 Win LR primer Win Brass Group size about an inch 120 gr Speer Hotcore 43.0gr H4350 Win LR primer Win Brass. Group size 1.5 " As a side note, I got good accuracy with 45 gr as well, but wanted a mild load for my daughter. These aren't necessarily the best loads, they are the ones I have developed. However, I've tried Win, Rem, and Fed factory, and these handloads give as good or better accuracy than factory.

I use 46.4 grains of IMR 4831 with the 140 gr. Nosler Partition in my M-38 carbine. My Chrony says 2506 fps. I usually group 7/8" - 1 1/4" at 100 yds.
This load is Above the Maximum in the all loading tables and should be approached carefully as you are probably aware that the the older Mausers were not designed for high pressure loads. I check bolt lift & extraction, visually inspect primers and mic'ed the caseheads as I developed this load and had no signs of excessive pressure in my rifle. I have used he above load for several years and am now trying to get a 120gr. Nosler Ballistic tip to hit at the same point of impact so that I can use some cheaper practice rounds without changing my scope settings as it is such a pleasant gun to shoot. |
