If you want to re use the cases, there isn't any need to remove the primers, unless you ant to use an already established load. If you are going to work up a new one, you can use the primers.
But, since you asked- You can do it several different ways, depending on if you want to keep the primers or not. Easiest is to pulll the bullets, dump the powder, load in ifle and pop the cap. But they won't chamber so... What I woudl do is put on some safety glasses, some heavy gloves and a jacket, and resize the cases--gingerly pop the primers out. I've done it many times, just not 100 cases at a time The SAFEST way is to drop your cases in a bucket of oil for a few days, to kill the primers, then resizew them.

You can also pull the bullets and dump the powder.
Take the decapping pin out of the decapping rod in your resizing die. Lube the the cases and run through the resizing die. You can now either: A) Run the resized cases through your rifle and pop off the primers. or B) Work up some new loads with your already primed cases. BTW Toss the powder on the lawn.

Smokeless powder is high in nitrogen.
Nitrogen is the prime ingredient in fertilizer. Old gun-powder on a lawn = nice green grass.

We got another new rule.................. ![]() Don't roll your brand new SUV in our diveway. And if you do please put away your vibrating dildo before the police show up. The look on the off-duty cop's face when he opened the door on the just overturned vehicle and had a buzzing vibrator drop at his feet was priceless though ................ Sorry for the thread hi-jack Rob.

Dropping the empty cases into the chamber and snapping them off is the safest way, that is assuming they will still fit with the bullet pulled. I ran into a similar problem years ago with a 338 that would not chamber....they were rounds sized in a die that was at the top end of the SAAMI specs, most likely a die cut with brand new reamers. The chamber of the gun was minimal size, probably cut with older reamers that had been resharpened a few times.....and they would not chamber no matter how much adjustment I put into the resizing dies. If you do manage to snap all of the primers safely in the chamber make sure you give the bore a good scrub afterwards. If you cannot chamber them at all. Using the dies to decap is POSSIBLE, but can be dangerous... make sure you screw down the decapping pin as far as possible, so it will pop the primer out and not create a sealed chamber in the die....if one goes off you want to leave it space to go off without causing a confined space detonation....does that make sense? Not sure if a berdan decapper would work on them or not....it is a tool that pulls the primer out from the headstamp end of the case. Caribou has a good idea. If you can make them fit by resizing the case full length just use the primers already in there and work up a load....remember to remove the decapping pin. IF the cases still will not fit after a pass in the full length resize die. Buy yourself some factory rounds and fire off five casings...send the fired cases and your old dies back to RCBC ( assuming the brand) and they will cut you a new set to match the chamber of your rifle....Free.....this is what they did with the 338 I had years ago. I wouldn't be too concerned with the primers. Pull the bullets, recharge the powder and reseat the bullets. What .308 Norma do you have? I have a load that works well in my Shultz & Larsen. If you're interested, send me a PM.

'Boo is setting you up.
If you fertlize a lawn,it grows faster ,needing more cutting. When you are cutting the lawn ,you are not at the range.NR,I have resized a couple of live primered ones, with safety glasses on, at arms length, without excitement. |
