RL 22 vs. H4831

Question for you all. How important is "temperature insensitivity" to you. I used to shot handloaded 30-06 ammo with RL 22. They were very accurate but I have since switched to H4831 due to Hodgsons claim of "temperature insensitivity" ... equally accurate so I'm ok with it. Since then I've started to wonder if there is anyone else out there that has any advice or experience. I really like the H4831 so I'm not trying to bash Hodgsons just curious if anyone has found there to be temperature issues with RL 22 or 19.

A favorite 30-06 load of mine is still 60 grains of Reloder 22 under a 180 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip. When shot at 20 c the load turns in 2800 fps at teh muzzle. I also chronied the load at -10 c and found it lost about 75 fps or in other words not enough to make a difference at ranges under 400 yards.

While I use a lot of Hodgdon powder I take their "temperature insensitivity" claims with a grain of salt. One of the worst loads for pressure excursions I have seen involved H4350 in my 300 wsm. The load was developed at at about 10 c and performed beautifully. The day before the season last year featured a heat wave here with highs in the upper 20's. When I went to verify my zero prior to a hunt the next day the load that was safe at 10 c was flowing brass into the extractor groove and showing signs of primer leakage at 28c. Needless to say I used another proven load to hunt with the next day.

Thanks for the feedback there my friend ... that exact load you speak of is what I'm shooting in my 30-06. 60 grains RL22 or 60 grains of H4831. Both work wonderfully ... I don't have a chrono at this point yet.
