Rusty Dies

I just bought a set of 7mm RM dies that have rust in them. The seating die has a "dusting" of orange inside, the decapper / sizer has a little more than a dusting. What's the best way to clean them up?

TIA.

The best way to clean them is to find someone with a lathe and chuck them up after removing the expander stem (Or seating stem in the case of a seating die) . Take a small diameter dowel and wrap it with steel wool wet with a bit of light oil. It does not take long to get the die polished to a mirror surface on the inside.

The outsides can be tackled with a stiff nylon brush wet with some light oil.

Oil and a bit of fine steel wool will fix them right up!

Check inside, too. You may need to stick some steel wool on a penci or something, to clean out the inside.

I've had great results with a shotgun "bore mop" covered in "jewelers rouge etc. in my cordless drill.......polishes them up really nice
A wood dowel, notch the top and wrap with 0000 steel wool works too, use some oil and polish em lightly
