Savage 11fcxp

This is Savage's "package rifle", but it is now offered in a youth model called 11FYCXP, only offered in .243.

Has anyone purchased the package rifles, and what did you thinK?

I'm not expecting much of a scope. A buddy had one and said it was horrible, inaccurate, etc. But I've read so much good about them on forums and magazines that I think he maybe didn't give it a fair chance. Lots of time he mixes 130 gr with 150, different brands, etc..............................

Any experience on the board with these?

I have the same "package deal" in .300 winmag. The rifle is fine, not the most accurate, but for 500.00, I wasn't expecting much. I was looking for a decently accurate, lightweight, composite stock gun, and that's what it is. The scope wasn't good - the one I bought was fitted with a low end Simmons 3-9x40 that didn't impress me, but I just switched it out for something I had on another gun. Basically a decent gun that I don't feel bad about bagging on.

Thanks for the reply. You say it "was not the most accurate", what are we talking here?? Less than 2" at 100 yards?? and did you handload or try a variety of factory loads yet?

Thanks,

the scopes suck, mounts arent too good either, you're gonna have to replace both sooner than later

Id just get a Savage and then mount the scope / rings of my choice, rather than going the package route.

Thanks,
It will definitely shoot under 2 inch groups at 100 yards in my experience. I've just shot factory loads (Federal Premium). I'm not one to be super concerned about the grouping of my rifle - if it's decent (say under 2inches) I'm happy.
