I am new to this so please forgive any blunders of form etc. I have a Cooey Model 840, and I was reading some posts about their history and worth on this site. I figured someone may be able to steer me in the right direction. I want to refurbish the shotgun and am having trouble disassembling it. I have refurbisehed a Remmington Model 33 and a target air rifle and so I figured I am getting proficient enough to tackle my Cooey, LOL (i am finding I am not as good as I thought) It would be very helpful if I could find a schematic or some other diagram that may help me in disassembling the gun. So far I have only been able to figure out how to take off the trigger guard and the butt pad!! I imagine there must be some type of combination of pushing a level and pulling the trigger or something to get the darn thing apart, it was put together right!? so it must come apart. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Regards.....

I finally looked in the hole in the stock and saw the bolt that releases the stock! Even though I feel foolish for posting before I had THOROUGHLY examined the gun, I would still like to find any info on this gun, so if anyone has or knows were to get this info please post, thank you,

Have you managed to disassemble the barrel and forestock from the receiver?
If not the forestock comes off by pulling down hard on the tip of the forestock while you support the end of the barrel. There is a cam locked spring and pin that holds it tight, you need to pulll down to disengage it. Then to take the barrel off of the receiver simply activate the break mechanism to swing open the barrel. It's either on the top of the tang and looks like a large tear drop or its on the front of the trigger guard. Depress or push the lever and break the barrel down towards the floor to open the action, as is you were going to place another shell in the chamber...continue that motion until the barrel unhinges from the receiver. I love this part.....assemble in reverse order. Paul If you do a search on the internet you can probably come up with a fully exploded diagram for that model |
