Scoping Savage 99

I have an older model Savage 99 in .300 that I would like to put a scope on. My eyes can no longer use the buckhorn sights with any accuracy. I have been informed and have seen pictures of Savage 99's with something called "Stith" scope mounts which you can attached without drilling the barrel. Does anyone have any information on these mounts, like where can they be purchased and what the limitations on scopes are when using these mounts?

This link will take you to a lot of good info , plus some guys that will be able to answer your question, inside out.

The Stith scope mount is utilizes the drilled holes in the tang (behind the cocking indicator) as the back mount and the rear sight slot as the front. Often they can be found on ebay. Some of the guys , including some Canadians, might have a Stith setup they would sell you. Not sure of price.

The Stith only fits for certain scopes but I can't tell you which.

www.savage99.com might have some pictures. You might find one by advertising here or on CGN

Cheers
Lorne
