I used to shoot a .348 Win but sold mine I have a .338-06 and .375 Win that are pretty much handloads only. My buddy has a .256 Win Mag, .308 Norma Mag and .50-70 Govt.

You've mentioned two of my favorites. First, my favorite lever gun/caliber combo, the 348 WCF. Like you, I sold the first one I had, and five minutes later kicked my butt for doing so. It was a standard model, nice shape so I committed to getting another. A couple years ago at the Duncan gun show I lucked into another Winchester model 71, deluxe grade in very nice shape. I couldn't resist. I was able to pick up an original set of sling swivels for it. I won't make a mistake and sell this one and here's a couple pic's.

I've gradually accumulated a healthy supply of brass for it plus a good assortment of bullets. For cast, I have two, a 230gr GC and a 262gr GC. Jacketed, Hornady 200gr FP, some old 200gr Winchester Silver Tips, and some Barnes originals in 22gr and 250gr.

The second, a 308 Norma Magnum, my favorite 30 cal magnum. Again, as with the model 71, I've accumulated an adequate supply of brass. The rifle I have is a model 65DL Schultz & Larsen.

A load I've found to be very accurate and have used successfully for quite a few years on Moose and Deer is one using the Sierra 200gr SBT.

However, I'm in the process of changing over to Barnes TTSX, in this caliber as well as a few others. Primarily trying to minimize the meat loss due to lead fragmentation. What rifle do you have in 308 NM?

I'm getting a little carried away here, sorry about that.

That's a very nice Model 71 you have there. Some day I hope to come across a good deal on an original 71 deluxe...but it likely won't be from one of those old barricudas frequenting the gun shows Just this past weekend one was asking $850 for a Model 70 pushfeed XTR with a junk Bushnell and $25 die LOL

.32-30rem in a Ruger#1
.32-40win in a Browning 1885
.295-300 Rook in an H&H break action w/ side lever
