You can buy spray bombs of "anti-chip" paint that leave a textured - stippled - finish at most automotive stores.

I got mine at a local store, but most places like CDN tire should have it.

I was looking at the NEW Browning .338 today ( some people never learn ) and it has a camo pattern on the composite stock that has a rubbery texture.. never seen this before felt very grippable non slippery..and the camo pattern was nice also....$1150 for a SS with that stock in .338 while the Tikka was $300 less for the SS however the stock felt extremely light and fragiloe as did the $120 plastic clip...

Is that price "local" Steven? If so it is pretty good and only 30 bucks more than S.I.R.

Keeping your "heavy" rifle the same as your .270 is not a bad thing. You will not get screwed up and look for the safety in the wrong place at the moment of truth. LoL

BTW, If you do buy another A-Bolt I have a few different sets of as-new bases and rings that will fit it.

Yes Boo..Chilcotin Guns..they had lots of rifles...I am in the "looking stage" interstingly most of the custoized rifles on our site for sale have great prices compared to the shops..but Chilcotin guns has had some good prices...

Whatever I buy will get sent off to Alberta again.. I am thinking about moving my Leupold gold ring scope to my .338 and getting a new Swarovoski for my .270...

I did NOT like the cheap feeling "plastic" stock on the TIKKA however Al said Tikka seems to be somewhat more accurate out of the box...than Browning..

Good point about having everything the same as Im used to.....338 will be grizzly and moose weapon..maybe Alberta whitetail deer IF I ever see a BIG un....lol....

I will keep that in mind re the bases and rings..

Steven
