Allouette Lake

Spent the afternoon with the GF and the dog on Allouette Lake today. Had a great day putting around in the little boat. We hooked 15+ and landed half that, a mix of Kokanee and 'bows up to 14".

I can't believe how well this lake is doing since they started the fertilization program. There are lots of fish from small rainbows to lakers and big bull trout.

Ya man, nice to get out again. I went a few months without fishing and didn't put one day on the water for steelhead this year. Ouch.

Check your PM's.

Matt,

Did you get them on the fly?

I wouldn't mind taking my 9' pontoon boat out there but worried that if the wind picks up I could be in trouble.

I take it you got them over by the poles sticking out of the water.

Oh and PM sent Matt.

Got a few on a bead head muddler but most on a wedding band/worm behind a 5wt. We were fishing the sticks, lots of fish in that area.

I'm taking the big boat up the lake this weekend and we're going to try for some of the lakers/bulls trolling down deep in the narrows. Should be interesting.

Allouette

Where about's on allouette do you fish? My dad and I always stay on the front half of the lake, from the thin point, then back! We've never had great success, but have not been there as much since this new program. Has it really gotten that much better? I know these big double digit lake trout you talk about and all the write-up's talk about...but I myself have never caught one there and never been able to find anyone who has. I always dream of landing these fish the books talk about in allouette but never seem to be able to! I've put in my time there too! Down rigger's, up riggers, fish finders, fish blinder it does not matter, I've never seen them!! I hope it's all true, because no doubt, with the dream again, I will be going again soon as my dad and I always do at the beginning of each year!
Boy that was a whinny fishermans rant!

We trolled the narrows last weekend with the riggers down and rods stacked and didn't touch a thing. We did mark some fish pretty deep, 175-230 feet.

I've only pulled one large bull trout out of Allouette - it would have gone around ten pounds. I have seen pics of lakers in the fifteen pound range but haven't tagged into any. I think the time to get into the big boys would be in the fall when the Kokanee get on their redds. I imagine j-plugs and red/chrome spoons would be able to stir a few up - I'm going to give it a good shot this fall!
