Burbot fishing Northern BC

I had some time to kill yesterday after work, so I talked my brother into driving my fishing rod out to me (Working about an hour out of town), and went down to the river to see if anyone was home. Managed to land 6 Burbot, nothing huge, but fun all the same. The river is very high with spring runoff, and very muddy at the moment.

Good lookin fish. Burbot, is that what they call fresh water ling? Is that the Nelson River? My buddy's halvers on a trap line somewheres on that river. He says lots of elk around, but no season. Noticed the link to your Quading,fishing..... video. Little bit of everything goin on there! Them Argos make it look so easy. Keep it comin!

Hi Ranger,
Yes, some guys call them Fresh water Ling. Actually, I think most guy do around here. Sometimes they can be pretty tough to catch as we have a total bait ban in this area, but if you hit it just right you can pick up a few of them. I have a little trick that seems to work occasionaly
That is the Nelson River, just below the Bailey Bridge, at the winter road crossing.
There are Elk around the area, and if I'm not mistaken, there is a short season on the North side of the river right here (I don't have a set of regs on me), and they are open on the other side.

The Argo's are a pretty cool machine, but my 8x8 is still sitting on a trail about 10 miles off the road with a broken axle,....... well, I think it's still there, it's been almost a month now since I seen it (A buddy flew over it last week in a Chopper, and said it looks fine). Hopefully I can go get it this weekend with the 6x6, there is a creek between me and the Argo that I might not be able to cross yet. The vid from that trip is also on Youtube
Glad you like the vids,
TTYL
