First Interior Trip of the Year

Steelhead season is almost over and it's time to plan the first softwater trout trip of the year. I'll be heading up to the Roche area around the May long weekend.

What is everyone else planning as far as first ice off trip?

May long?
I have about 10 days off, so I think I'll be taking the family down to Kelowna to see my Grandmother. She has not met her newest (18 months old) grand daughter yet. Maybe stop off in Quesnell to see the inlaws as well.
With any luck, I will be able to fish a bit on the waylol

I started a new job this fall year so barely got out for steelhead - one trip from me to the Vedder, didn't even fish the ditch this year.

I split a re-power with one of my buddys on a 22' Larson late last year, we put a 200 honda on it. I'll be fishing Bamfield a ton hopefully.

Still like fishing the interior lakes and camping a few weekends a year. The salt though is where I love to fish.

Matt,

I hear you on the salt man, I did a few years trolling the Gulf. Then I bought a boat and kick myself for letting it go for the Harley at times as River fishing for me well just doesnt cut it for me.

As for the ditch I fished it a few times and nothing, hit the Vedder a handful of times.... All I can say is that river has my number!

I myself am hoping to get away for a bit to the 100mile area to do some Ling fishing

Burbot are a laid-back fishing experience.

All it takes is a boat, a dark night, a bucket of worms and box of beer. Just chuck a large worm ball over the side and spend the night drinking beer ..................

That sounds great, like night fishing for sturgeon.

I was thinking that.
My inlaws live right by the lake, and I've never even had a chance to fish it yet.

Those were the days.lol

Sadly, we are no longer permitted to use bait up here. When I asked about it, I was told that it's too easy to accidentally catch Bull's with bait, so they banned it all togeather

Matt,

U have a good memory my old farts live on Horse Lake now, but there is no good fishing or hunting around there. All the game and fish are found up around MacCleese(Sp) Lake

I love that area. Here is a pic I took last summer from my campsite at Sheridan Lake:

I've never fished Horse before.
