I was there 2 days ago with Springer from Alberta..fishing was SLOW we never touched a fish for 6 hours..however one guy hooked a monster so big it pulled his SAGE rod into the lake...with reel & line a $1,000 loss.

Its been so cold and rained for 10 days straight very little hatching...its been the busiest Ive seen Forrest...30 boats on the lake...and ALL the camping spots FULL.

Holy crap. Was that on the weekend by chance? What are the folks using now there? Usually leech patterns is what Ive been seeing there. Bummer about the fella losing the rod. Good fish story though and hes got the absence of a rod to prove it.

Still had a blast and learned lots more about fly fishing and how to hook your partner if the fish dont bite...
Dugan Lake was electric, had a good time catching our limit of Rainbows there.
Thanks for your Hospitality again Elmer..and the fish...Deer Sausage..Yummy meals...

Spent 2 days on Forest and about 10 campers or so were there. Good group of people with no head banging music blaring so it was nice. Caught 2 about 9lbs. and 1 about 12 1/2lbs. Biggenst fish to date on a fly was 2lbs. so it was a new experience and a total rush. A fella was out there doing REALLY well and Im sure he said he was using a Chromie? Never heard of this. What info is there on this?
No worries, I found it. Got to get me a few of these.

chronomid...pupae of the mosquito/midges...trout feed on these in HUGE amounts ..keying in on size and color....often at a specific depth key is color and depth and presentation SLOW ...centmeter by centimeter retrieve or use a 'corkie" float to keep the chronie at a specific depth..cast and watch ..set the hook when the corkie dipss...bobber fishing..casting is done 3/4 into the wind and allow the waves to impart action...these chronies need to come straight up as do the natural they immitate..shallow water 20 feet and less use full floating lines and flurocarbon leaders..deeper waters use full sinking lines...

look in the water...use a small aquariam net ..,,,,look at whats "hatching " = match the hatch... ..OR once you have caught your first fish..use a THROAT pump and check what HE was eating...if all else fails START with black....AND KEEP CHANGING DEPTHS ..THEN COLORS....
