Smile No luck again....

Tried my luck bar fishing at the alex fraser bridge, saw fish rising and had a few bites from pest fish (bull fish ect.) yet know luck. I think my leader was not the right legnth, I would go buy an non tidal licence to fish the upper fraser but hunting season is comming soo soon (when hunting comes around fishing goes out the window )

what species of fish were you going after ???? spring salmon or sockeye or pinks ???

chinook..were you bottom bouncing or bar rigging ????was the water clear or very dirty ???

for chinook in clear water ..bar fishing from 3 way swivel to drop weight I like 12-16 " and the leader from 3 way to spin and glow 24 "- 32"

I shorten the drop line to the weight to 6 " in dirty water..bar fishing.. if bottom bouncing for chinook I use a surgical tubing and run my main line right through that and keep my "leader " to 18"-20"

Pinks I fly fish for..and keep the leader in the 6 ' range with slightly weighted flies and hit the riffles...

tight lines...

I was bar rigging for chinook and the visibitlity of the water was low (in my oppinion)

so many fish were rising, someone told me to fish without weight if fish are rising that much... is this true?

no the oposite is true..the dirtier the water the shorter the leader..all that rising fish means is you get to see some....

The "secret" is finding the seam of water the salmon are using...90 % of salmon use 10 % or less of the rivers width..a narrow seam of water...find that seam...da da..

Steven.....what is the purpose of the surgical tubing? I am trying to picture how you have it rigged and what it is for? It is likely so painfully obvious that I am going to have a bruise on my forehead....

the surgical tubing is not for bar fishing its for bottom bouncing with roe...your main line goes through the surgical tubing...thread it through the opening in a 2 inch long piece of tubing and then through a corkie and a bead and a 5/0 hook.....then you push a piece of lead through the tubing pinching the line against the tubing side walls..the result holds the line tight and you can adjust the main line/leader for length...
