Thumbs up One-Shot-Wonder should have saved...

...some holidays.

Went out over the weekend with buddy and his brother (first year steelheading) on the Vedder River for an afternoon.

Water was in and out (clarity) as is, and probably will be, the norm for this winter. I got a little doe and the new steelheader got his first in the way of about a 12lb in 3 hours effort! I think helping him beach his first was the best part of the trip (aside from the great company).

A couple beeks holding chrome bars on the end of their fingers...

Just kidding about the holidays. I'd take your hunting trips over fighting the mob for a 7lb steelhead any day!!! Still, scouted some sweet water...your first steel will be lurking around there.

Not too many guys when I was out compared to the fall.

I think fishing will be good in pockets as the water cleans up during extended dryspells before the next rain. Major flooding in early winter made new clayslides so we'll be fighting that all season unless it gets dry and cold and the water drops. The fish will be there, the question will be if you can get at them.

Good on you! Way to get out and beak it!

You have been over due, I am not deflecting the attention away from my absence on the river, but I have had a busy winter with the job and house. Keep the reports coming bud, I will do my best to make it down in Feb. Good to ehar you made it out and hooked one.

Where the fish caught hatch or wild?

BTW your fishing partner looks an awful lot like Jonny, how has he been doing any fish for the kingfisher this year?

It's all good, but hope you can get down in Feb. I got lucky, first trip out since last year.

That's Jonny's bro yup! He's been doing good too during times of clean water.

They're both hatcheries or Id be in pretty hot $@^@! for posing a wild steel on my finger like that (seen clowns hold them not much better though for pictures )

Water is muddy now, but with good weather forecasted for the next week, should shape up ok unless this warm weather 10+ C! melts some snow and brings the water up.

The boys on the site wouldn't be happy with you if they where wild.....

So that is what a Steelhead looks like
