A fishing section - Kewl!

We were out on Friday (august 4) for soxs and springs. No springs this time but me and my buddy both got our 2 sox. We had a boat and found a little chunk of real estate with no one else on it. A bit of a gamble since we had not fished it before but it panned out in the end. Hoping to try again next Friday!

Thumbs down

I remember a member of this forum (I think) made some very accurate comments. They said how people are quick to jump on big companies for pollution (CN Rail etc) but then go out and wash their car on the driveway, dump toxins down the toilet/storm drains and use copious amounts of pesticides on their lawn. I would like to add to this accurate statement to include driving over fish habitat and washing vehicle fluids into B.C.'s largest salmon bearing river all to go SNAG a few sockeye.

I feel it's too bad people choose to snag fish and to also damage and pollute fish habitat at the same time.

Clean up your act people. If you want to 'lawfully' snag fish that's your choice, but dont destroy and damage fish habitat at the same time. This is an all new low for this snagging 'fishery' so many partake in.

Apologies for the sarcasm, obvious annoyance and the fact that your 'fishing' report will probably turn into a mud fest and debate now. In brutal honesty, I dont think a snagging fishery that drags the core values of angling down into the mud deserves much more anyway. It sure as hell isnt fishing, and it certainly isnt anything to be proud about. Whoo whoo...I snagged some fish, and as a bonus, I washed my truck. Where did the dirt and oil go? Who knows!!! Im too busy snagging fish.

Although I agree with the pollution crusade, I have to point out to you GG that you have a horrible way of getting a point across. In fact you will do as much damage to your self championing quest by alienating yourself as you would ever wish to achieve. In fact no matter how much I agreed with you, I would still feel like you needed a slap across your smug aristocratic face.

Point taken, and if it meant people cleaning their act up, Ill take that slap, if you can reach. (please, Im trying to inject some humour once again)

But seriously, you are right. Ive found that people are so touchy on forums (fishing and hunting alike) and just cant seem handle a little criticism or are quick to take things wrong. Grow a bit thicker of some skin for crying out loud! Still no reason to be rude when sharing opinion (attract more flies with honey?).

I stand by what I said even though it's debateable how it was said, but this is about snagging, and not how a few people feel about the tone or wording of a stinking post.

Geeze, "I would still feel like you needed a slap across your smug aristocratic face" could be the pot calling the kettle black!

I always wondered who the people that had such disrespect for fish and wildlife that they would drive their truck through fish bearing waterways were...

Other than that- What a gong show. That looks like about as much fun as standing in line somewhere wiht 10 000 other people...

ever seen how much a two stroke boat engine puts in the water(specially on start up or when the ignition is cut) or a deisel with a submerged exhaust or even a gaspot that is rich. for the amount of time a truck spends in the water it is minscule in comparison.

Does that make driving a truck in a fish bearing stream a good thing, then? Or the "right thing to do?"
