Squamish Chum

Well I know some people don't like chum's but, there is nothing that fight's are hard as a fresh Chum. I took this Doe last Monday from the Squamish, I would hate to see the state of the Main Stem now.

I had never cooked a chum up before I had always smoked them, but this one I made into Fish and Chips and let me tell you it will not be the last. I couldn't get over it tasty

Nice looking chum!

I've only had deep fried salmon once, but it "was" very tasty.

I wouldn't mind doing deep fried foods more often, but I have to watch the chloresterol.

A russian lady I know makes caviar out of the salmon roe. Ever try that?

She soaks them in salted water, for several hours, then uses an electric beater, at lowest speed, for just a few seconds to break up the sack covering. {a few of the eggs break doing this She then picks the sack out of the roe. She likes to put it on crackers. Claims that you can freeze any extra, and use them as you have a hankerin for them. I like caviar, but have never tried the salmon roe.

the rifleman,

I am the same as you, but the odd time to have deep fried will not hurt ya.

I just can't stomach eating egg's from a salmon I harvest, I have no problem eating at a Sushi rest.

There are still hords of chrome chum moving through the Squamish System

There is a little spot around 24 mile mark where you can just walk over the creek and grab the tails of them. Easy catch.

I love smoked chum!!!!! My four year old boy loves catching them just about on my doorstep and away from the crowds.

The other day a bunch of yahoos were sturgeon fishing in mid stream and started razzing me over keeping a nice buck chum, then a fella on the other bank pulled one in and yelled "Another one for the smoker" to which I replied yea and they sure taste a whole lot beter than sturgeon. No futher comments from the peanut gallery LOL.
