Still alive..shorts and truck not so good..

Travelling to Vancouver to fish with Thomas, Mike, Joe I was south of Spences Bridge doing 105 KMH..towing our 30 foot travel trailer when BOOM motor suddenly stops with a lound bang... spraying oil and antifreeze all over the truck and travel trailer... ..no brakes and no steering..I pull on the travel trailer brakes and bring the whole damn thing to a stop a very short distance to the Thompson river.

I walk to a residence and make arrangements... 2 tow trucks..one for the diesel truck and one for the travel trailer...

I had Susan contact Mike and let him know what happened.

I arrived home late this afternoon the travel trailer is now home also.

To Mike Campbell, and Thomas and Joe...I apologize for all the travel and expenses you guys went to and planning for this.... sorry I couldnt be there BUT I am glad to be STILL alive....

I am embarrased by this whole scenario....especially to Mike for all the expense and efforts and planning...sorry GUYS...

It sure sounds like you had nothing but GOOD luck shining on you there. There was certainly a potential for a down side. Glad you and yours are still with us.

Off to meet Mike and Thomas this morning again.

Get some rest Steven and we'll talk soon.

And yes the MOSTEST important point is I am alive....

Great news Joe...great start 3 footer now go get PAPA..11 footer..and PICTURES ....someone went in to clear the stuck nozzle???brrrrrrrrrr ya thats cold and talk about your "ground shrinkage "..

Off to drop my keys off so local Ford dealer can look at my truck...and they have "kindly loaned " me a truck for the morning to go spray off the travel trailer so the gell coat isnt damaged.

Have a blast Mike..Joe ...Thomas...Chris and wife..etc.....

Thumbs up Still alive..shorts and truck not so good..

What year is your truck Steven and did the engine seize?
When you loose the power steering pump on diesels, you loose your brakes because it's the power steering pump that gives the 'boost' for power brakes. Unlike gas powered engines, diesels do not operate under a vacuum and must rely on other means to achieve the boost for the brakes. If you're driving a Ford diesel powered truck, you want to pay close attention to the condition of the power steering fluid, it will be the first indication that a problem is developing in that system. Ask me how I know, 15 cents short of $3200 later. Luckily for me, mine failed in the driveway but I became very cognizant of what may have transpired had I been on the road.
That was pretty quick thinking on your part to use the trailer brakes, can you imagine the consequence had you not had the trailer attached? I think that you just got a reminder that your blessed. And yes, I counted my blessing.

Went in to Ford dealer in Williams Lake....diagnosis is complete...

QUOTE " the high pressure pump blew , the seal AND metal plate (cover ) right off the truck.. " " it caused no motor damage " and the truck will be repaired in the AM.

Ford Canada is also going to make an offer to buy this POS back...

As I ALREADY have a deal with the dealership..I expect Ford Canada to step up and make the deal one that compensates me for 4 years of HELL with this CRAP, and sweetens the deal in place, extra warranty...and eat the $100 deductable for this incident.
