Stoney lake fishing? (7-6)

I will be camped at Stoney lake in mid oct for my 7-6 cow moose draw.I will have 2 weeks. Shoot me if it takes me the full two weeks to find one! So assuming I will have some spare time to relax, who can tell me about the fishing on Stoney? What about small lakes close by that might be better for some good fall fly fishing? Thanks for any info.

That is where our draw is again this year.
My buddy did pretty well right from shore with his fly rod, some of the other places we tried were nearby streams and you could see the fish, but I never managed to land one.
I think most of the places around there are not bad.
A few people were fishing while up there hunting.
I know a few guys that go there.

Stoney lake fishing? (7-6)

Here's a link to the region fishing regs. Although there are no specific regs for Stony aside from the gear restriction (no set lines). You should be aware of the closures for lake and bull trout (dolly varden) as these are likely in effect during your LEH. Stony is a popular place for LEH hunting and that increases when the calf season opens(Oct 10-25). Most hunters from Van Isle and lower mainland will have their camps set up before the Thanksgiving Day long weekend, so go early to get a good spot and expect crowds.
