van island fishing??????????

as some of you know i am from ont and hunt with my bro in the fall NE of salmon arm.....I am lucky/unlucky enough to have my wife move out next sunday...actually unlucky.....so i figured a trip west was in order. My bro wants to go to the coast which i am all for and was wondering what kind of fishing is available last week of may. he has a boat....any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated. I convinced him to buy a bear tag and shoot an island bear ...hello sausage.....since you can only get one permit to accompany per year (which i want to use this fall)ill just be the packer which im good with.

thanks for any info
doug

If you are thinking bear go to the northern end of the island

fairly good fishing sayward to port hardy on the inside or gold river to winter harbour on the west side

bears are good around gold river west towards tahsis just on the west side of strathcona park. Also a little further north around woss lake.
I live their all my life until moving out here so pick my brain I can give you some good areas

If you are around Port Alberni there should be some decent fishing in the spring on Great Central and Sproat lakes as well. I know there are some big cutties in Great Central, in the 10# range and there are rainbows in both lakes.
