Bison

After some 15 years of putting in for a draw I was finally successful drawing bison. My hunt is in 7-57A October 16-31. I have read what I can find on the form and there is useful info. I have contacted the Blueberry First Nations etc. But more specifically I am wondering if anyone else has hunted that area the end of October and can give some advice. I only have an ATV with chains and I have use of an ATV trailer. I am hoping for no snow.

I started using a bow last year and would like to hear from anyone that bow hunted bison.

Also generally, what are the amenities in the area - gas and groceries. Is pink Mountain the closest?

Are you even allowed to hunt Bison with a bow? Even with a firearm they had minimum bullet weights and velocity's required..I gather they are pretty hard to put down..
Could be quite a chase if you don't get a well placed arrow...

I had a tag for B region, how many ppls are going with you? Best if you can take a couple of ATV's as we broke down with just one! Not fun two hours in the bush trying to get it going again!

Oh buy your fuel further down, it is a joke the price of shit the further north you go!! There is nothing in One O one, Pink Mountain there isnt much either!

I would hunt a Buffalo with a gun over a bow, 15year wait??? And miss cause you took a bow..

Just hope there isnt many ppls driving around as when I went it was a hwy and the speeds just kept pushing the buffalo higher and higher up the mountians!

Good luck keep us posted, hope you have better luck then me.
Camp fires when it is the Gen set suck!!

Bison

Do a search under bison or my user name and read the story I wrote on the Bison hunt I did up there on the Halfway river trail. Just going by the size of some of the bulls in the herd I took mine out of I would be using a rifle.
