Browning or Tikka

New deer rifle.

I had my eye on the Tikka T3 Lite in .270WSM. But then I discovered the X-Bolt. I went and checked the two out, and af for the feel and look I love the X-bolt. My only concern is that the Tikka is guaranteed sub MOA, while I'm not sure if the X-Bolt is guaranteed anything. I don't feel too right about choosing a rifle for look and feel rather than how it shoots, but I can't get over the beautiful Browning. (Also want in .270 WSM)

I'm going to be reloading for it, so are these concerns about the X-Bolt accuracy just silly?

I'd really like to hear from someone who has experience with the X-Bolt.

Thanks,

Mark

Tikka

Stick to the Tikka IMO. Silky smooth action, sub MOA . Plus I'm not a Browning fan with some issues friends had with their rifles and Browning warranty department.

I have two of the 270WSM in the LS model...love them. Prefer them over the synthetic version. Find the stock "too hollow sounding"

Another rifle to look at would be the Sako A7.

I work in a gunstore and we have sold a lot of xbolts this year. I have not heard one complaint about them . We can`t even get t3s and for sure not in a 270wsm .

Over here, they usually have both in .270WSM.

I would love to gett he Tikka, but after holding the X-Bolt the Tikka's stock is just horrible, and has a hockey puck for a recoil pad. lol, maybe my memory is exaggeratign. I'll look into some Sakos too, but that's getting expensive.

I hear some mixed opinions about the X-Bolt, but some say it's amazing. Ad they say it shoots well under 1 MOA.

I have owned a Browning A bolt in 300winmag and a Browning BAR [semi auto] in 300win mag. There are only three negatives that I could say about both of them. #1: the wood stocks are poorly finished, if you take them apart there is exposed wood hidden under the metal. #2: the hinged plate that holds the clip in place is easy to break and expensive to replace. #3: the BAR action will freeze if your hunting sub-zero temps in freezing rain.

I now use a Tikka T3 30-06, yes the stock isn't the most appealing..but your getting Sako barrel /action quality [same manufacturer] for less $$$$.

All three of these firearms were/are good shooters, so if your looking at a synthetic stock I would say your personal preference [and price] should help you make your decision. I wouldn't buy a Browning with the hinged floor plate again, but I don't think the x-bolt has that feature?

Hope this helps you with your choice to buy the Browning!!

The xbolt has a clip that feeds well. Its the one SM that we have had no returns on. Just stay away from the xbolt one piece rings and basses ...if you buy one.

Why do you say stay away from the one piece rings and bases? They are made by Talley and have a good reputation.

Thats why I bought my T3 270WSM rifles in the laminate stainless models. The synthetic stock on the T3 is nowhere near the same as one on the Sako m75 rifle IMO

IMHO the Browning is a poor design using some pretty cheap parts. I owned both an A-bolt and a BLR, each for a short period of time. Never again. Go with the Tikka.

I've been at the range with two buddies, one with a T3 and the other with a Browning. From all aspects of accuracy, fit & finish, and feed/action, I'd take the Tikka any day over the club-like Browning.

The new Sako A7 is just a couple hundred more than the Tikka - and only $50 more than an X-bolt Stalker.

not Browning

I started with Brownings they are rough and ready while they do the job they do not have the quality of finish or smoothness of action if you like the Tiika stick with it.

I was looking at the X bolt stainless stalker the other day and it has a nice feel and balance to it, never owned a Browning before but I am tempted.
